Most people mention sleepers and point out either something that isn’t too flashy like a Chevy SS or some car that has purposefully been built to look like a beater such as anything off of Roadkill. Today, I saw a 2011-2014 Toyota Camry in beige that didn’t have ANY noticeable differences. Not even tint, a blacked out trim, or wheels. How do I know it was a sleeper? Because it freaking blew the doors off of every single person trying to merge onto the interstate! Both myself and the 2015 Camaro SS ahead of me were booking it in order to merge and this Camry went from being behind me to in front of us in less than 4 seconds after being in pace with us up the on ramp. All this with no telltale exhaust sounds or anything! The Camaro went after the Camry and from what I could tell...they never caught up!! The stealth levels were off the charts.

The craziest part is the fact that I know this person must be a phenomenal driver with an incredible setup. I thought 300 hp to the front wheels was ridiculous and this person just shot away without any drama. Cool stuff!

I think V6 Camrys are one of the most quick cars Toyota sells. I’m not shocked, when I had my beater 2003 Honda Odyssey V6 I blow the doors off so many cars.

Could’ve been a V6 Camry, those do 0-60 under 6 seconds stock

Yeah but they don’t go 60-90 mph in 4 seconds! No, that was a fast car, period! Not just a quick car, or fast “for a midsize, sub-300 hp,” family sedan.

I used to consider my ‘73 LeSabre a sleeper. Now it’s just an old car with a big engine. It does make a lot of noise when you get on it, but with the engine as wild as it is, it’s really, really, really hard to keep it quiet.

Stoplights are different since that’s reaction time. When you’re going at highway speeds, the cars ahead of you are exiting the curve ahead of you, and all of a sudden the Camry behind you has created a 20 mph difference between them and the sports car ahead of you (that was moving briskly), something is up!

It wouldn’t surprise me if someone supercharged a V6. As hated as Camrys are, there is actually a decently sized community around them. Some of those community members legitimately modify their cars, too.

There were/are some impressive builds of 3rd gen Camrys which I watched when I followed the 3rd and 4th gen scene. One of those being DynaMotorSports’ gen 3 Camry.

any car can do that, unless it’s an original VW Beetle

Fun Fact, the 2011 V6 Toyota Rav 4 was toyota’s fastest car 0-60. Like 6 seconds.

The 4runner takes 4 seconds from 70-80. After that, the motor is in the powerband so..... torque.

Even the 4banger has good pull.

I have the I4, and it’s crazy enough. I couldn’t imagine the V6.

What? No way...
Maybe I’m thrown off since I’m at 6,000 ft above sea level. I have a pretty good eye for speed in relationship to my own though and stand by what I said.

Where in the world are you guys getting that 60-90 mph in 4 seconds is some regular 4-cyl highway pulls? Granted I’m at 6,000 ft, but that still seems quick as all get out to me. I mean here’s a modded 911 Turbo doing 60-90 mph in 3 seconds. I just can’t believe this.

Nah; 4 seconds for a 60-90 run is pretty fast.

Not at all. My 1992 Tempo does that easily.

Haha I did some research...mostly wondering if a Ford Tempo would do 90 at all.

And I was just joking about that exact bodywork on an IS300 with a decently built big single turbo 2JZ. Door pillars are somewhat similar to that Camry. Maybe someone beat me to the idea.

Also the SS camaro isn’t all that hot. My coworker has one, and says he much prefers his old 04 STi over the SS for pretty much every situation other than cruising drive-thus.

Sounds like it was supercharged. I have a couple friends with older supercharged Camrys.
